Siggy
  • Siggy

Siggy was a labor of love for me.  As you know if you've followed me at all on Instagram or have looked at my pieces, I love sea creatures.  Turtles, fish, crabs, seahorses.  You name it; I love it.

Siggy is a really cool swordfish.  This is one of the rare pieces where I didn't build it around a particular stone.  My lovely Robin said, "Why don't you make a swordfish?".  She didn't need to ask twice.  I got right to work drawing and figuring out the best way to make a wearable swordfish.  I didn't want to make it a landscape style necklace because I knew it would be pretty long.  As it turned out, Siggy is approximately 5 inches long, so he lays beautifully this way, and he also looks like he's jumping out of the water to me being oriented this way.

The biggest part of the story with Siggy was the sculpting of his long bill.  I took a couple days making his long bill.  I melted and poured an ingot of silver in order to make the bill extra thick so that I could sculpt away the excess and still have plenty of metal left when I was done.  Those turquoise cabs on the bill are quite small (3x5mm).  And they're perfectly fit to the size of Siggy's bill after much metal sculpting.

Siggy's body consists of an orby ocean jasper and two radiant Baltic amber pieces.  The tail incorporates two of my signature turquoise hearts.

Solid sterling silver.  Chain not included.
